November 2 - 8, 2026 Sam Silver 6 min read
This week is the calm, civic heart of November. Tuesday, November 3 is Election Day in California, with a statewide ballot that includes a housing and veterans bond, along with races for governor and Congress, so make a plan to vote by 8 PM. Wednesday brings the Canyon Country Farmers Market back to the community center from 4 to 8 PM, and Friday, November 6 is Red Friday, when the valley wears red to Remember Everyone Deployed. Saturday, November 7 is the weekend anchor: Dial Up Fest brings Nelly and Sugar Ray to Castaic Lake, and the Old Town Newhall Farmers Market runs its usual morning slot. Sunday wraps with the College of the Canyons and Valencia FivePoint farmers markets, then the countdown to Veterans Day on the 11th kicks into high gear. Everything is subject to change, so please confirm with each organizer before heading out.

Election Day: California General Election
Tuesday, Nov 3 · Vote by 8:00 PM, LA County
Tuesday, November 3 is the statewide General Election, when California chooses its governor and other statewide offices, all 52 U.S. House seats, and state legislative races, alongside a slate of statewide propositions. One to know for anyone who cares about housing here: Proposition 1, an $11.25 billion bond for housing affordability and veterans housing programs, with a significant share aimed at helping veterans become homeowners. Most SCV households receive a mail ballot, but you can also vote in person at any LA County Vote Center in the county by 8:00 PM, or drop your mail ballot at an official drop box. Confirm your registration, ballot status, and vote center locations at lavote.gov. As a veterans housing advocate, I can't overstate how much this ballot could matter for the families I work with every day.
Dial Up Fest at Castaic Lake
Saturday, Nov 7 · Castaic Lake State Recreation Area
The weekend's anchor is Dial Up Fest, bringing 90s and 2000s pop and hip-hop headliners Nelly and Sugar Ray to Castaic Lake State Recreation Area on Saturday. Gates and set times are organizer-managed, so confirm on the ticket listing before heading up the lake. While you're out there, the Castaic Lake recreation guide covers fishing, picnic spots, and everything else the lake offers. Sam's full November 6-8 weekend guide has every verified detail for Friday through Sunday.
Farmers Markets Across the Valley
Four markets · Three days
November is when the valley's winter citrus starts showing up at the markets. The Canyon Country Farmers Market runs Wednesday, November 4 from 4 to 8 PM in the parking lot of the Canyon Country Community Center at 18410 Sierra Highway. Old Town Newhall Farmers Market fills the library lot Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 1 PM. On Sunday, both the College of the Canyons Certified Farmers' Market (8 AM to noon) and the Valencia FivePoint Farmers Market at Magic Mountain Parkway and Navigation Avenue (8:30 AM to 1 PM) are open. Details in the complete SCV farmers market guide.
Red Friday: Remember Everyone Deployed
Friday, Nov 6 · Valleywide
The Friday before Veterans Day is the week's most visible act of community spirit: Red Friday, which stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. Throw on something red, snap a photo with #REDFriday, and let the families of deployed service members know the SCV is thinking of them. Restaurants, shops, and offices across Valencia, Saugus, Newhall, and Canyon Country can join by wearing red and hanging a red ribbon. Sam and the Equity Union team wear red every Friday, and this one means a little more. Read the full Red Friday explainer for ways to take part.
Salute to Patriots at Bella Vida
Early November · SCV Senior Center, 27180 Golden Valley Rd
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce's annual Salute to Patriots reception honors local veterans and their families each year in the first week of November at the SCV Senior Center at Bella Vida, in partnership with the City. It is a warm, free evening of recognition, food, and gratitude, and a lovely way to include elders in Veterans Day week. The Chamber publishes the exact 2026 date close to the event, so keep an eye on its calendar, and confirm with the Chamber before you go. It pairs perfectly with the Veterans Day ceremony later in the week.

Ways to Enjoy the Valley Between the Holidays
November's first week has no festival chaos, which is exactly what makes it the best time for a slower kind of outing.
Golden-Hill Trail Season
Before the first rains
The hills are gold and the weather is dry, which makes this the ideal week for the valley's scenic loops. Start with the fall color hike guide or the Golden Valley Ranch ridgeline.
Castaic Lake Weekdays
Fewer crowds, cooler water
With summer crowds gone, early-week visits to Castaic Lake are peaceful, and fishing picks up as the water cools. The lake recreation guide has the full picture.

From Your Local Insider, Sam Silver
I put this roundup together because the Santa Clarita Valley is home to me. After 23 years as a REALTOR here, a U.S. Army veteran, and a coach with Special Olympics, I know this community from the ground up. If you are new to the area, thinking about moving, or just want a friendly local resource, I am always happy to point you in the right direction.
