The weekend after Labor Day is one of the most meaningful of the year in Santa Clarita Valley. Friday, September 11 is Patriot Day, and the valley marks it with the Guardians SCV 9/11 Car Show & BBQ and the season finale of the city's Celebrate series, Celebrate: Mexico. Saturday brings the farmers markets and Master Chorale auditions, and Sunday is made for the College of the Canyons market and a golden September day at Castaic Lake. Patriot Day 9/11 Car Show & BBQ

The SCV's largest annual Patriot Day observance kicks off Friday evening with a remembrance ceremony, a classic and custom car show, a complimentary BBQ dinner, live music, vendors, and the chance to meet first responders and military groups at 28776 The Old Road. It is free, family-friendly, and the most meaningful night out of the season.

The City of Santa Clarita's free Celebrate cultural series closes out its 2026 season with Celebrate: Mexico, a family-friendly evening of live music, dance, crafts, and food trucks at the Canyon Country Community Center. It is a wonderful way to spend the evening of Patriot Day celebrating the cultures that make the SCV home.

Fall produce is rolling into the valley's Saturday markets. The Old Town Newhall Farmers Market fills the library parking lot at 24500 Main Street from 8:30 AM to 1 PM with produce, artisan goods, and a coffee-and-brunch walk down Main. North of town, the Bouquet Canyon Certified Farmers Market & Crafters Show runs 8 AM to 1 PM at 27000 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus. Both are free to browse.
Santa Clarita Master Chorale Auditions

Singers across the valley: the Santa Clarita Master Chorale holds open auditions Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, as listed on the KHTS community events calendar. The chorale is a beloved part of SCV's performing arts scene, from CanyonPAC concerts to the annual holiday program. Confirm the audition location through the chorale's listings before you go, and good luck to everyone stepping up to the mic.
SCV Performing Arts & Theater GuideSanta Clarita Certified Farmers' Market at College of the Canyons

The valley's biggest market sets up at College of the Canyons (Valencia Blvd & Rockwell Canyon Rd) on Sunday morning from 8 AM to noon. As summer produce gives way to early fall, it is the best single stop for peaches, peppers, fresh-pressed juice, and artisan goods. Arrive by 9 AM for the best selection.

Castaic Lake: A Golden September Day

September water is some of the warmest of the year at Castaic Lake. Swim at the lower lagoon, paddleboard, kayak, or picnic by the water. Arrive by 10 AM to secure a good spot. About 15 minutes from central SCV.
