The signature holiday event of the SCV calendar: Light Up Main Street fills five blocks of Old Town Newhall with light displays, real snow, Santa visits, live music, and holiday food and drink. Complete Light Up Main Street GuideFestival of Trees at Canyon Country Community Center
Friday, Nov 20 - Sunday, Nov 22 · 18410 Sierra Hwy, Canyon Country
The Festival of Trees returns to the Canyon Country Community Center for its three-day run, filling the venue with beautifully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, and gingerbread houses in a family-friendly holiday show that benefits the Boys & Girls Club. It is one of the easiest weekend traditions in the valley: walk the trees, vote on favorites, snap photos, and let the kids soak up the season indoors.
Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22 at the Canyon Country Community Center, 18410 Sierra Highway. Check the event listing for hours each day; weekend afternoons are the busiest.
Farmers Markets: Old Town Newhall & College of the Canyons
Saturday & Sunday mornings · Late-fall harvest
Grab the week's produce before the holiday food shopping begins. The Old Town Newhall Farmers Market fills the library parking lot at 24500 Main Street on Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1 PM, the perfect warm-up before Light Up Main Street. Sunday morning the Certified Farmers' Market sets up in Parking Lot 5 at College of the Canyons (Valencia Blvd & Rockwell Canyon Rd) from 8 AM to noon, year-round. Stock up on citrus, winter squash, and greens for the Thanksgiving table.
Tree Farms in Full Swing + Thanksgiving Week Ahead
All weekend · Bouquet Canyon & beyond
Tree farm season is at its peak: Gilchrist Farm on Bouquet Canyon Road sells fresh-cut trees alongside its holiday farm animals, and Frosty's Forest on Orchard Village Road remains one of Southern California's rare choose-and-cut Monterey pine forests. Pick your tree this weekend and the stand will still be green and fresh by Christmas. Meanwhile, Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26: this is the weekend to plan your turkey trot, reserve your community dinner seats, and join the valley's food drives.

Golden-Hour Trail Season
All weekend · Valley open space
November is the best hiking month of the year in SCV. Towsley Canyon and Vasquez Rocks are both excellent in the low light, and the new David March Park exercise stairway is the shorter, sweatier option.
