The New-Look Neighborhood Park

David March Park sits at 28310 Via Joyce Drive in Saugus, at the base of the Plum Canyon ridgeline. The park closed in August 2025 for a major expansion and grand-reopened on June 1, 2026 with about eight added acres, taking the total site to a generous neighborhood scale. The result is a park that stacks up against the valley's best: a real baseball field with shaded terraced seating, a busy new playground, a lighted basketball court, and a fitness stairway that is already a local landmark. It is free to use and open daily, and it has quickly become one of Saugus's busiest hangouts.

A Park With a Purpose

The Story Behind the Name

The park honors Deputy David March, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy who was killed in the line of duty. The site, which sat at Plum Canyon, became David March Park after the City of Santa Clarita took over the facility in June 2016, and the name has carried the deputy's memory forward ever since. For a valley that takes its first responders seriously, it is a meaningful place: kids play ball under a name that reminds us all of the service that keeps Santa Clarita safe.

The 2026 expansion was the biggest investment in the park since the city took it over. The project added acreage and a slate of new amenities while keeping the views of the Plum Canyon ridgeline that made the original site special.
