By Sam Silver · July 6, 2026
Summer in the Santa Clarita Valley regularly hits 95–105°F, and by mid-July the entire valley is searching for water. The good news? SCV has more options than you might expect — from free splash pads at neighborhood parks to the brand-new Cali Splash Park on Castaic Lake, which just opened as Southern California's largest inflatable aquapark. Whether you're looking for a quick 30-minute cool-down or a full day on the water, here's every water play option in the valley, ranked by a local who's been through 22 summers here.
Must-Do Summer 2026
Cali Splash Park
Southern California's Largest Inflatable Aquapark
Castaic Lake · Now Open for Summer 2026
This is the headline water attraction in SCV for summer 2026. Cali Splash Park has opened on Castaic Lake as Southern California's largest inflatable aquapark — a massive floating obstacle course on the water that's part playground, part challenge course, and entirely fun for all ages.
The aquapark features interconnected inflatable structures including climbing walls, balance beams, slides, trampolines, and splash zones — all floating on the lake. It's designed for kids and adults alike, with separate sections for younger children and more challenging elements for teens and adults.
Castaic Lake itself offers boating, jet skiing, fishing, and a swim beach at the lower lagoon, making it easy to turn a Cali Splash Park visit into a full-day outing. Sam recommends arriving before 10 AM on weekends — the lake gets busy, and morning is when the water is calmest.

Sam's Tip
"On a 100°F+ day, I'd drive to Cali Splash Park at Castaic Lake for the full experience. But for a quick 30-minute cool-down on a regular summer afternoon, West Creek Park's splash pad in Valencia is the best free option in the valley — inclusive, well-maintained, and right next to the playground."
Also Worth Knowing
Castaic Sports Complex Aquatic Center
In addition to the main Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, the Castaic Sports Complex has its own aquatic facility with water slides and a splash play area. It's a solid option for families in the northern part of the valley who want aquatic center amenities without the drive to central Santa Clarita.
The complex also offers recreation programs, sports fields, and community events throughout the summer — making it a versatile destination for families.
Summer Water Safety Tips
- Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen 30 minutes before water play — reapply every 2 hours
- Hydrate before, during, and after water activities — dehydration sneaks up fast in dry heat
- Morning sessions (before noon) are least crowded and have the calmest water
- Only swim at lifeguarded facilities — open water swimming at Castaic Lake requires a life jacket
- Leave pets at home — most splash pads and aquatic centers don't allow animals
- For toddlers, always maintain arm's reach supervision — even in shallow splash areas
