The difference is, here it is 20 minutes from your front door, the pours are generous, and nobody is charging you a tasting fee that costs more than the bottle."

The heart of SCV's wine scene is on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. In just a few blocks, you will find seven tasting rooms and wine bars, each with its own personality. The best part? You can walk between all of them. Plan an afternoon, pace yourself, and make an evening of it.
Pulchella Winery

Opened in 2010, Pulchella is the original Old Town Newhall tasting room and still the gold standard. They source grapes from premier California wine regions and produce small-batch reds that consistently earn high ratings. The tasting room is warm, intimate, and staffed by people who genuinely love wine. Their Zinfandel and Petite Sirah are standouts. If you only visit one tasting room on Main Street, make it this one.
Reyes Winery on Main

Reyes Winery is the only Latino-owned winery in Los Angeles County, and their presence on Main Street has been a game-changer for the SCV wine scene. Their Main Street location features a rooftop tasting room and restaurant with stunning views of Old Town Newhall and the surrounding hills. The 16-acre vineyard in Agua Dulce produces Spanish and Italian varietals that reflect the family's heritage. The rooftop bar is one of the best sunset-watching spots in the entire valley.
Pagter Brothers Winery

A family-owned winery with deep SCV roots. Pagter Brothers brings a no-frills, friendly approach to wine tasting that feels authentically local. Their tasting room shares a space with Hoi Polloi Winery and Double Trouble Wine Room, making 24338 Main Street a mini wine destination all on its own. Sharing the same address as Pagter Brothers, Hoi Polloi brings a more experimental approach to winemaking. Vineyard Wineries & Estate Tastings
For the full vineyard experience without driving to Paso Robles or Temecula, head to Agua Dulce. Just 15 minutes north of Santa Clarita on the 14 Freeway, this rural valley is home to working vineyards and estate wineries that feel a world away from suburban life.
Agua Dulce Winery
9640 Sierra Hwy, Agua Dulce
The largest winery in Los Angeles County, spanning 90-100 acres of working vineyard. Agua Dulce Winery offers the full wine country experience: daily wine tasting in a rustic tasting room, guided barrel room tours, wine blending classes, and a gourmet gift shop. Their production is substantial, and the quality has earned them a loyal following across Southern California.
The setting is spectacular -- rolling vineyards with the Sierra Pelona Mountains as a backdrop. The outdoor patio is a beautiful spot for a tasting flight on a warm afternoon. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 AM to 5:30 PM. Sam's tip: spring for the reserve tasting and take home a bottle of their Syrah.
Reyes Winery & Vineyard

Reyes Winery operates both a rooftop tasting room on Main Street in Newhall and its original vineyard location in Agua Dulce. The 16-acre estate vineyard was planted in 2004 and grows Spanish and Italian varietals that thrive in the Sierra Pelona Valley's microclimate. The vineyard tasting room offers a more intimate, rustic experience than the Main Street location -- think tasting at the source, surrounded by the vines that grew the grapes in your glass.
As the only Latino-owned winery in LA County, Reyes brings a unique perspective to California winemaking. Their Albariño and Tempranillo are standouts. The vineyard site is less crowded than the Main Street location and offers a more focused tasting experience.
Wine Bars & Bottle Shops in Valencia
If you are on the Valencia side of the valley, you do not need to drive to Newhall for a great glass of wine. These wine bars and bottle shops serve the west side well.

Wine 661 carries an impressive selection from California and international producers, with a focus on small-batch and hard-to-find labels. Beyond the tasting rooms, SCV hosts several wine-focused events throughout the year. These are the ones worth putting on your calendar.
SCV Wine Walk
A self-guided walking tour of Old Town Newhall's tasting rooms. Check with the City of Santa Clarita for scheduled Wine Walk dates -- they typically happen quarterly. Live music, food pairings, and exclusive pours make it a great community event.
SENSES Block Party
Third Thursday monthly on Main Street Newhall through September. While not exclusively a wine event, the block parties feature craft cocktail and wine pop-ups from local tasting rooms. The final one of 2026 is September 17. A fantastic way to experience Main Street's wine scene in a festival atmosphere.
Tasting Room Events
Many tasting rooms host regular events: wine and cheese pairings, blending classes, live music nights, and release parties. Follow Pulchella, Reyes, and Agua Dulce Winery on social media for the most up-to-date event schedules.

Go on a Weekday Afternoon
Saturday afternoons on Main Street get busy. If you can, plan your wine crawl for a Thursday or Friday afternoon when the tasting rooms are quieter and the staff have more time to talk you through the wines.
Park Once on Main Street
All the Main Street tasting rooms are within a few blocks of each other. Park in the public lot behind Main Street (enter from Market Street) and walk. You will taste more and drive less.
Split Flights, Share the Experience
If you are with a partner or a friend, order different flights and share. You will taste twice as many wines without drinking twice as much. Most tasting rooms are happy to accommodate this.
