The valley's newest doors and the honest status on the big names: Angry Chickz is serving Nashville hot chicken in Canyon Country, Cali Rays bakes its own sourdough in Valencia, Dutch Bros is pouring coffee on Valley Center Drive, and ax throwing is coming to Carl Boyer. Here is the November dining update from SCV insider Sam Silver.

November's dining news is spread across the map: Canyon Country gets its hot-chicken moment with Angry Chickz on Golden Valley Road, Valencia adds sourdough sandwiches at Cali Rays on McBean Parkway, and the coffee line at Dutch Bros on Valley Center Drive is worth planning around. Still ahead: Stumpy's Hatchet House at 26517 Carl Boyer Drive, the continued buildout of KPOT and Round1 at Valencia Town Center, and the usual rumor mill around Yard House and Texas Roadhouse. Here is what is actually worth your appetite this month, with the honest status on everything else. As always, check with each restaurant before you go, because hours and menus change.
New Doors Worth Your Appetite
Verified openings across the valley, from hot chicken in the east to sourdough and coffee in the west.
Angry Chickz: Nashville-Style Hot Chicken
19187 Golden Valley Rd, Unit 39 · Open daily 10 AM to midnight
Canyon Country's newest craving is the Angry Chickz outpost on Golden Valley Road, which opened over the summer and still draws a line at peak hours. The counter-service menu is built on made-to-order fried chicken tenders, sliders, bowls, and fries, and the draw is the spice ladder: it starts at the no-heat Country level and climbs all the way to Angry, a heat level that famously comes with a waiver. First-timers should start a step or two below their usual order; the heat is real and the ranch is mandatory. Open daily from 10 AM to midnight, which makes it an easy late-night stop. More at the official Santa Clarita location page.
Cali Rays Sourdough Deli
27740 McBean Pkwy, Valencia · Mon-Sat 10 AM-8 PM, Sun 11 AM-7 PM
Valencia's newest lunch stop is Cali Rays Sourdough Deli on McBean Parkway, a from-scratch sandwich shop built around slow-fermented sourdough baked fresh every day. The menu runs handcrafted sandwiches (a roast beef with house sauce, a pastrami Reuben, a BBQ brisket), fresh soups served in bread bowls, gourmet salads, wraps, and gluten-free wrap options. The sourdough is the star: chewy crust, tangy crumb, and sturdy enough to hold a hot brisket. Expect a proper local deli feel plus seasonal specials that rotate through the year. Order ahead at the official Cali Rays ordering page.
Dutch Bros Coffee on Valley Center Drive
26655 Valley Center Dr, Santa Clarita · Early mornings to late night
The Canyon Country Dutch Bros Coffee opened in late May at 26655 Valley Center Drive, near the Soledad Canyon and Golden Valley intersection, and the drive-thru line has been part of the neighborhood rhythm ever since. It is a classic Dutch Bros stand: a long menu of hot and iced drinks, freezes, and chai, with friendly, fast service and hours that run from early morning to late night. If you commute toward Golden Valley Road, it is now the easiest coffee stop on the east side. Location details at the Dutch Bros Santa Clarita page.
What Is Still on the Way
The honest November status on the names everyone asks about, from ax throwing to the mall's big buildout. Sam's rule stays the same: trust the open signs, not the rumor mill.
Announced · Construction
Stumpy's Hatchet House
The chain's first California location is taking shape at 26517 Carl Boyer Drive, pairing hatchet-throwing lanes with a full bar and kitchen. It was announced with a spring 2026 target and is still pending as of late October, so watch the city's permit announcements for the ribbon-cutting date. A fun new date-night option the valley has never had.
Announced · Construction
KPOT & Round1 at Valencia Town Center
KPOT (Korean BBQ and hot pot) and Round1 (bowling, arcade, and entertainment) remain part of the mall's phased transformation through 2027. Construction is progressing inside the former Sears building, but neither has announced a doors-open date yet. See the full lineup in the Valencia Town Center dining guide.
Still Unconfirmed
Yard House & Texas Roadhouse
The two most-requested chains in SCV remain wishes, not openings. Yard House was announced for the Magic Mountain Parkway and River Oaks area with no confirmed date as of late October, and Texas Roadhouse still has no announced opening. When either posts a real timeline, you will read it here first.
Bakery Road Trip
Porto's: Still Worth the Drive
There is still no confirmed Porto's Bakery location in the Santa Clarita Valley, so the closest shops remain in Northridge and Burbank. For locals who plan a pastelitos and potato-ball run, Sam's tip is simple: go on a weekday morning, order ahead, and make a day of it. If the valley ever gets its own location, this page will be the first to tell you.
Where You Eat Depends on Where You Live
New openings keep telling the story of where the valley is growing. The Canyon Country corridor along Golden Valley Road now stacks Angry Chickz, Dutch Bros, and the Canyon Country Farmers Market into one easy drive, Valencia's McBean corridor keeps adding from-scratch options like Cali Rays, and Old Town Newhall remains the valley's culinary heart for walkable, independent spots. If you are weighing neighborhoods, Sam's guides break down the character, schools, parks, and dining of each community, starting with Saugus vs Valencia and Living in Castaic, and the full neighborhood hub covers every community.
Sam Tracks the Valley So You Don't Have To
After 23 years as a REALTOR in Santa Clarita, I have watched this valley's food scene grow from burger joints into one of the most interesting dining maps in Southern California. That same neighborhood knowledge is what I bring to every home search. If you are thinking about buying, selling, or just moving to a different part of the SCV, I would love to point you the right way.
