It is only August, but Santa Clarita Valley's holiday light scene plans ahead. From the legendary Wakefield Winter Wonderland in Saugus to the River of Lights at Central Park and the beloved Holiday Light Tour trolley — here is everything you need to know to plan your 2026 holiday season.

Santa Clarita Valley transforms into a winter wonderland each December. While the summer heat is still on, SCV residents know that the best holiday displays take months of planning. Sam has been tracking the local light scene for over two decades, and here is your first look at what is coming this holiday season in Santa Clarita.

Wakefield Winter Wonderland — Candy Cane Lane
Wakefield Court, Saugus · Nearly 30-Year Tradition
The most iconic holiday light display in Santa Clarita Valley is Wakefield Winter Wonderland on Wakefield Court in Saugus — better known locally as Candy Cane Lane. Over 40 homes on this small cul-de-sac (off Copper Hill Drive, between Seco Canyon and Haskell Canyon) go all out with thousands of lights, inflatables, animatronics, and synchronized music displays.
The neighborhood wraps every street lamp in red-and-white candy cane stripes. Walking through this street feels like stepping into a holiday movie — families gather with hot cocoa, kids run from house to house, and the entire block glows from dusk until about 10 PM every night through December.
This tradition has been running for nearly 30 years. It is free, walkable, and absolutely worth the trip. Park on Copper Hill Drive and walk in. Sam recommends going on a weeknight if you can — weekends get crowded.

Northbridge — Decoro & Grandview
Off McBean Parkway, Valencia
One of the most popular driving tour areas in Valencia. Decoro Drive, Grandview Drive, and surrounding streets (Hathaway, Woodfield, Welshfield, Clearidge, Essex, and Meriweather) feature elaborate displays on multiple blocks. Drive slowly and enjoy the coordinated decorations — some homes sync their lights to music on FM radio channels.
River of Lights Holiday Show
Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd
A newer but already beloved holiday light show at Central Park. The River of Lights runs nightly from dusk to 10 PM through December, featuring vibrant reds and greens, candy cane effects, and Hanukkah blue sequences. A beautiful, walkable display that complements the neighborhood driving tours. Free to enjoy.
Other Notable Displays
Several other SCV neighborhoods get into the spirit each year. Thomas & Cody's Light Show is a fan favorite with synchronized music. Homestead Holidays near Stevenson Ranch offers a family-friendly display. Many local real estate groups publish updated maps each December showing verified display locations throughout the valley.

Santa Clarita Transit Holiday Light Tour
Free Wood Trolley Rides · 45 Minutes
One of SCV's most beloved holiday traditions is the Holiday Light Tour hosted by Santa Clarita Transit. A classic wood trolley takes families on a free, approximately 45-minute guided tour through some of the valley's best neighborhood light displays.
The tour departs from the McBean Regional Transit Center and loops through decorated neighborhoods while holiday music plays. Food trucks are usually parked at the departure point serving hot beverages and warm treats.
This event is extremely popular and tends to fill up fast. Sam recommends arriving early and bringing a blanket if the evening is cool. Exact December 2026 dates are typically announced in November by the City of Santa Clarita.
Barnyard Light Tour & Holiday Events
Beyond the neighborhood displays, these festive events round out the SCV holiday experience.
Barnyard Light Tour — William S. Hart Park
An annual walk-through light display event held in December at William S. Hart Park. The historic barn and grounds are transformed with thousands of lights, creating a magical farmyard holiday experience. A family favorite for generations of SCV residents.
Holiday in the Park — Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Magic Mountain transforms into a winter wonderland with millions of twinkling lights, live entertainment, carolers, faux snowfall, and seasonal treats. Cookies with Santa & Local Church Events
Many SCV churches and community centers host holiday events including Cookies with Santa, live nativity scenes, and holiday concerts. NorthPark Community Church and other local congregations typically schedule these in early December. Check local calendars for specific dates and times.
Self-Guided Holiday Light Tour Route
Combine the best displays into one magical evening. Here is Sam's recommended route for a self-guided tour of SCV's holiday lights.
Start at Central Park
Begin at the River of Lights Holiday Show at Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Rd). Walk the light displays and enjoy the reflections on the water.
Head to Northbridge
Drive to the Decoro Drive and Grandview Drive area off McBean Parkway. This is the most concentrated display zone in Valencia with dozens of decorated homes.
Candy Cane Lane
Drive up to Wakefield Court off Copper Hill Drive in Saugus. Park nearby and walk through the famous Wakefield Winter Wonderland. The candy cane street lamps are iconic.
End with Hot Cocoa
Finish at a local cafe or head back to Old Town Newhall for hot cocoa and a walk under the Main Street holiday lights. Perfect end to a festive SCV evening.

Tips for a Great Holiday Light Tour
After 22 years in SCV, Sam has learned a few things about navigating holiday light season. Here is his advice for making the most of your evening.
- Go on weeknights. Weekends at Wakefield Winter Wonderland can have significant crowds. Monday through Thursday evenings are much more relaxed.
- Park respectfully. Many display neighborhoods are residential cul-de-sacs. Park on main roads and walk in, do not block driveways.
- Bring cash. Some neighborhoods have donation jars for local charities. A few dollars go a long way toward keeping these traditions alive.
- Arrive early. Most displays run from dusk to 10 PM. The first hour is usually the least crowded.
- Check for light maps. Local real estate groups and SCV community pages publish updated maps of verified displays each December. Sam shares them on his social media when they are released.
