The City of Santa Clarita operates three dedicated off-leash dog parks across the valley. Each one has its own vibe, so you can pick the one that suits your dog's personality.
Central Bark Dog Park
Central Park · Valencia
The crown jewel of SCV's dog parks. Central Bark spans 1.3 acres at Central Park with separate enclosures for small and large dogs, shaded seating areas, water stations, and waste bags. It's the most popular dog park in the valley — expect a friendly, well-socialized crowd. The park is also fully fenced and has double-gated entry for safety.

Canine Country Dog Park
Santa Clarita Sports Complex · Valencia
A half-acre off-leash park at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. Canine Country has separate sections for large and small dogs, shaded benches, and a friendly regular crowd. It's smaller than Central Bark but less crowded on weekdays — a great option if your dog gets overwhelmed by large groups.

One of the best things about living in SCV with a dog is the trail access. Every hiking trail in the Santa Clarita Valley is open to dogs on a leash — and with over 100 miles of connected paseos plus canyon trails, you and your pup will never run out of new places to explore.
Sam's top picks for dog-friendly hikes: Placerita Canyon for easy nature trails with shade, Whitney Canyon for a magical oak forest leading to a seasonal waterfall, Pico Canyon near Stevenson Ranch for the historic Mentryville ghost town, and Towsley Canyon for panoramic valley views on a moderate hike. The Paseo trail system is also fantastic for daily walks — you can walk from your neighborhood to parks and shops without ever touching a busy road.
Summer hiking with dogs requires extra caution. Bring plenty of water for both of you, avoid the midday heat (hike before 8 AM or after 6 PM), and watch for hot pavement on the paseo trails. Sam's rule: if the ground is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws.
